Dog Training tips when there’s a New baby | Conditioning with Cooper

Cooper’s owners have just welcomed a new baby into their home while he is here with us so we are working on conditioning him to the smells and sounds of a newborn before he heads home.
The idea is to teach him to avoid the baby and the baby’s items. We don’t want him stepping all over the blanket, stealing toys, or being rude. We are teaching him boundaries and how to create space.
Cooper has never met the baby and all of this stimulation is brand new to him. His owners brought in a blanket with their baby’s scent on it and Brittney practices recall and heeling around it.
You can see how Cooper competely avoids going close to the blanket and is very focused on Brittney. We first started him off on leash and gave him a correction with the ECollar for stepping on the blanket.
He is now staying clear of it. This is something that can be done with other baby objects like strollers, car seats, toys, and cribs.
